Science Brainwaves AGM: 26th April 2012 in The University of Sheffield Arts Tower – Lecture Theatre 3
This year has been a really big year for Science Brainwaves, we’ve been busier than ever, with the launch of our popular monthly pub quizzes, a book club and recently our own radio show – Radio Active – on Sheffield Live (93.2 FM). In addition to this we’ve been spreading science far and wide, with our large public events; ‘The Botany of Gin’, the Christmas and Spring Family Lectures and ‘Better Looking, Better Loving: The Science of Beauty’. Our work with children has also expanded, with more University outreach days, Beaver science sessions, our own after-school club, Neutrinos and our brand new post-16 Wellcome Trust funded evolution and PCR workshop.
Our volunteers have made an outstanding contribution to science communication in Sheffield, but none of this would have been possible without the wonderful Science Brainwaves committee. It is now time for our committee to stand down to make way for new and fresh ideas, and this is where we need you! If you are interested in event organising, networking, talking to the media AND bringing science to life for the public, then this is a perfect opportunity for you!
If you are organised, motivated and creative, Science Brainwaves can offer a really offer you the chance to shine, develop skills and contribute to engaging the public in all things science!
There are six positions up for election this year: Secretary, Treasurer, Head of Volunteers, Head of Publicity, Head of Outreach (Schools) and Head of Outreach (Non-schools). To find out more about the roles please click here.
If you are interested in any of these roles please register your interest by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org AND come along to our AGM – where we’ll be celebrating the last year, electing the committee and discussing the future!
We look forward to hearing from you,
Tacita Nye, Director Science Brainwaves.
